Futures and Options Exchange
Futures and option exchanges are indispensable for liberal economic systems.
These exchanges have been active in developed countries over a century. While derivatives and option exchanges operate by increasing trading volumes in many developed countries, such exchanges are also found in developing countries or there are attempts to establish them.
In Turkey, too, the lack of such an exchange had been obvious for a long time. The Turkish Derivatives Exchange was founded on July 4, 2002 as Turkey's first private exchange. Transactions began on February 4, 2005. Presently, the Equity Index-30 Futures Foreign Currency Futures (USD and Euro), Interest rate futures (t-bills, 91 days and 365 days) and Cotton and Wheat Futures are available.
